Retrofitting a building with a new roof and walls can be a real challenge, but add to the challenge “not interfering” with the occupant’s daily business. This was the task at hand for J.M Williams Contractors and Paramount Metal Systems. Nissan of Gadsden was an active car dealership continuing daily business while receiving a complete building overhaul. Paramount was selected to participate in some of the modifications and demolition of the existing structure by removing an existing 2000 sqft tower atop of the 30 year metal building, infill the roof with new structural rafters, purlins and substrate roof panels, then retrofit ACI’s Stratoshield 24ga standing seam roof over the entire roof. Hat channels were added and attached over the original roof to the purlins below. Additional fiberglass insulation was overlaid on the existing roof deck prior to installing the new roof. Paramount also provided a new preengineered roof structure by Elite Structures adjoining the existing building to become the new customer service receiving area.

Once work was completed on the main building, a decision was made to include a second building on the grounds, the bodyshop along with a new addition for a car wash tunnel. Again, Paramount provided the retrofitted roof system and the walls to match the main building. The carwash tunnel structure was designed inhouse, fabricated and erected by Paramount with the owner supplying the exterior finish and glass as well as the equipment.
